Zollikon News
Finally! Updated news........
*****************************17/10/09**********************
Introducing our latest champion - CH Zollikon Ooh La La! Ulla finished her championship last month. Huge thanks to all our wonderful friends who helped along the way. In particular, Megan Boundy (Paddlepaws Newfoundlands), Zoe & Lynney Wall and Ashleigh Reid. Thanks for taking Ulla to shows when we couldn't get there! Ulla is now having a rest for a few weeks to grow some coat and let me concentrate on Ruby. Ulla is pictured below with her new friend Jas just before they competed in Junior Handlers at Melbourne Royal. Ulla is now exclusively handled by Jasmyne Bristow. Click here to visit Jas's website.
In August we had a few days away in Sydney. First we celebrated my nephews 18th birthday - and then went to spend a few days with my beautiful 91 year old Grandma. Brady had a great time visiting his "great Granny", and just loved hanging out with his Grandpa too! Grandpa is always happy to go to the park!
We had a visit from Ruby's grandma Lindsay in September! Lindsay came over sans dogs for Melbourne Royal. Ruby was thrilled to spend time with her Grandma - she hadn't seen Lindsay since she was 5 months old.
Sorcha and Bailey
Handsome Clarence. We are hoping for little baby Clarries next year!
Pretty Mia
The gorgeous Korki - Zollikon All About Me (Ulla's sister). Korki lives in WA with our good friend Bev Arthur's son Ben and his partner Kath. Thanks to Bev for the pictures of Korki.

Well - it's been a long time coming but I've finally gotten organised! We've got heaps of news to report! In March, we had a wonderful weekend in Adelaide celebrating Lindsay & Luke's wedding. What a beautiful setting, beautiful bride and awesome day! Thanks for sharing your day with us guys - it was amazing !! Brady was priviledged - the only child invited. He behaved himself, and managed to eat his own weight in woodfired pizza.
Lindsay looked absolutely stunning - her dress was divine! The cake - well check it out for yourself :) all 5 berners made it on there - individually made to look like Angus, Gemma, Tanner, Sugar and new baby Ginger.........
Ulla has been showing up a storm! She's over 3/4 way to her title - hopefully just a few more shows and she'll be the newest champion at Zollikon. Thanks to out wonderful friend Megan of Paddlepaws Newfs who is Ulla's other handler.
Miss Magenta taking it easy on her birthday..... Happy 6th birthday to our first litter - the James Bond kids! All 13 are happy and healthy and still acting like crazy puppies. I can't believe that it is 6 years since we held our first wriggly baby - what an introduction to dog breeding.

Well done to Julie & Crystal! Pic to follow soon ............................ ******************** 3.12.08 ********************
HUGE congratulations to Robyn and her amazing girl Heidi - now known as Zollikon Golden Gun C.D. Heidi is the first Zollikon baby to be awarded an obedience title and I am SO proud of her, and of the work that Robyn has put in training Heidi to C.D. level. Heidi has had some major hurdles to overcome - and Robyn has been so patient and persistent. Well done guys! You are a super team!
On the home front - Mimi's babies are all growing well, we have 6 gorgeous girls and two bouncing boys. They are almost 4 weeks now, and are looking forward to meeting their new families at visiting day this weekend!

Brady has recovered well from his surgery. After 3 cancellations it was finally done on the 3rd of September. Thanks to the wonderful staff at the RCH for taking such great care of our little man. Special thanks to our wonderful friends, and my awesome parents who all chipped in to help out with the dogs while we were in hospital for the week. Ruby has requested to live with Nana permanently as she loves racing around the acreage! Mimi enjoyed it, instantly becoming my mum's 'velcro' dog - but she is very glad to have her mummy & daddy home again.
Fender & Paul Sept 08
Esther & Chris have been brilliant foster parents to Issie ( I don't think she wants to come home! ) and Ulla has been our resident jetsetter, spending two weeks with Kirsten, Stu, Toby & Indy and then travelling to Adelaide for Adelaide Royal where (at almost 7 months) she placed first in the 6 - 12 month puppy bitch class, beating much older competition.
Ulla at 6.5 months
Thanks so much to Lindsay & Luke for taking such great care of Ulla! She has requested a farmstay holiday for next year please Luke :) Thanks also to Melita for bringing Ulla back to Melbourne !

******* 24.5.08 ******* We've just spent a fantastic morning with the gang from the BMDCV . Tony & Lynne found a great venue at short notice - a great morning was had by all. Brady enjoyed his first Bernese social outing, even staying asleep until the walk was completed before waking up to have lunch with everyone else. We had a few Zollikon babies in attendance - Carrie with Oz, Ashleigh & Adrian with Sorcha and Bailey (honorary bernese) and Joe & Marie with Junior. Our little girl Ulla also came along to meet up with everyone. Despite me being slack and having barely lead trained her she was on her best behaviour. We also caught up with one of Ollie's daughters "Sasha".

Brady is now 3.350 kg and was due to be born a few days ago! Issie is his self - appointed guardian - wherever Brady is, she is sure to be close by. She even sleeps outside his bedroom door - what a great girl!
On a sad note -
Deepest sympathy to Lisa & Stu on the loss of their wonderful boy

We had Esther to visit on the weekend, Mimi was ecstatic to see her second mommy (I think she'd leave me in a heartbeat if Esther wanted 3 bernese!) Esther's boss Joe has added Junior, Mimi's son to his family, and is grateful he has a ready made babysitter in Esther! Check out the puppies page for pictures of Junior, Corky and the other babies as they are leaving for their new homes.

************************************************************************************************************************************ Welcome to the world Brady Peter Sankey 26/3/2008 2.077kg
Wow! What a crazy time we've had the last few weeks........ Our son was born almost two weeks ago - here is the birth announcement Paul sent out to all our friends and family :
Brady is an impatient fella, a little man in a big hurry. After raising his mother’s blood pressure to dangerous levels (probably not for the last time!) he kindly informed his parents through his obstetrician’s interpretation that he wanted out and now which interrupted an otherwise pleasant hot chocolate they were sharing. After murmuring a few shocked expletives to each other in disbelief (which wont be repeated), his parents decided they could not escape the cast of thousands quickly gathering around them and had but one option open; go with the flow. He made his grand entrance via emergency Caesarean section with the expert help of Dr. Danielle Wilkins and is currently residing in his warm and cosy humidicrib at Monash Clayton and doing fine, as is his mother. His father miraculously managed to stay reasonably coherent and, most importantly, conscious throughout the entire event, destroying any chances of additional humorous fodder for certain individuals who shall remain nameless (not that they seem to need any).
Brady greeted the world 6 weeks earlier than his scheduled arrival at 6:43pm on the Wednesday the 26th of March with a weight of 2.077kgs (approx. 4.5lbs) and a length of 48.5cm and also a reasonably full head of silvery white hair, not unlike his namesake grandfather’s (minus the beard). At this early stage he seems to have a rather serious expression and general disposition pointing to wisdom beyond his tender age (or wind) and at first glance he has more than a passing resemblance to his uncle Stu, but you can all be the judge on that.
So on his behalf, his parents would like to give a grateful thanks to all well wishers and they look forward to you all making his introduction in due time. With lots of love,
Paul, Emma and Brady Sankey. Brady is going really well, he just needs to fatten up and then he can come home from the hospital. All the dogs are anxiously waiting to meet him, particularly Issie who is my company for the middle of the night milk expressing sessions. More pics to follow soon!

And to top off a BRILLIANT day - we received the x ray results for our beautiful girl Ruby that night. Ruby received perfect scores - HD 0.0. ED 0.0. Thanks again to Lindsay for allowing us to have her handsome boy Angus in our breeding program. The temperament and type from the litter he sired for us have been outstanding, and now we have Ruby with her perfect scores to include in Zollikon's future. ********************************************************************************************************************************** ************ 19.3.2008 *************
